ASICS: Sound Mind, Sound Body
In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano,” which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body.” Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

New Features

Re-engineered Asymmetrical Lacing Design

This new construction creates a more open toe environment, less material overlays for lighter weight, and a great fit with less potential irritation through the Asymmetrical Lacing System. The tongue features an added layer of memory foam to allow for a more form-fitted feel under the laces.

Re-engineered Asymmetrical Lacing Design creates a more open toe environment.

Stitch-Less PHF(Personal Heel Fit)

This re-engineered heel environment improves rearfoot fit and comfort and lessens the potential for irritation.

Gender Specific Cushioning

Gender Specific Cushioning creates a distinctly unique ride by employing injected Solyte® rather than the standard molded midsole material. The advantage of the injection process is lighter weight and more consistent density in comparison to compression molded EVA. Not only does this help drop the weight of the midsole but the “dialed-in” density improves the forefoot road feel. And since the compression rate on women’s models is generally much lower than men’s, the injected cap on the women’s shoe is softer, ensuring a great forefoot road feel.

Gender-specific cushioning improves forefoot road feel.

Gender Specific Space Trusstic System®

The Space Trusstic System® creates an open space between the Trusstic System® device and the midsole to allow for the midsole to deform at a rate that the arch needs to provide more efficient foot function. Since a woman’s arch alters shape as estrogen levels change, the Gender Specific Space Trusstic System® allows for greater midsole deformation on women’s models. This environment allows the Space Trusstic System® to properly address these fluctuations and provide the needed midfoot support.

Gender-specific Space Trusstic System allows for fluctuations in midfoot support.

  1. The Nimbus 11 is a great improvement on the already-fabulous Nimbus line of running shoes. I upgraded to this shoe after I started experiencing knee pain from my well-worn Nimbus 9′s. I love the improvements in this shoe — the lighter weight, cooler colors and asymmetrical lacing pattern which takes the laces slightly on a diagonal to match the natural contour of the foot rather than digging in to the top of the foot like some shoes do. I have virtually eliminated my knee pain since wearing these and have had no blisters or other foot issues. They feel great and I am very happy with the Asics Nimbus line of shoes. I also found that ordered 1/2 size up is a very good idea. Great running shoe!

Have been using these shoes for over 6 years now and this has got to be the best one by miles!!!! No stiching in the heel box means no rubing or blisters. Better lacing no hot spots and fantastic coushioning. Same size I always buy and fits perfectly. Goning to order another pair next month before they are all gone. I hope they don’t change this shoe. 3. I purchased this shoes because I was experiencing knee pain, and ankle pain. I felt like my previous running shoes did not have enough cushioning and support for my foot. I found this shoes to be both light and comfortable. They offer great cushion and did not hurt at all. I am very happy with this shoe, I love Asics!!!!

Always have worn Asics running shoes. They have alot of support and cushioning. The New Gel Nimbus 11 – however were the first pair that actually hurt me. They seem more rigid and stiff in the heel area. On my left foot they rubbed alot at first and created a HUGE blister. It would probably be a good idea to break these in with aloooooooot of slower walking first. Now I usually just bandage up that heel so it won’t do it again. Everything else about the shoes has been great! They are comfy everywhere else and supportive.

I have been running only a few weeks and had blisters on the bottom of my outer toes and my feet were very sore. I decided that maybe I also decided that I was just supposed to have shin splits until I got used to running…not true. It turns out I was prancing more than rolling my foot and I was running on the outside edge of my feet and that’s why i have blisters on my last few toes. A little bit a research on the web and I realized I needed new shoes. I was wearing the same shoes from college…which was a long time ago. I have had these shoes now for 2 weeks and my blisters have healed and I no longer have shin splints – they are so cushie! Maybe one day soon you’ll see me flying past you in a race, or not:) I highly recommend these shoes if your feet have a tendency to roll outward – they are very stable and soft shoes.
